Shell Casting Shell Molding
Shell moulding is an expendable mold casting process that uses a resin covered sand to form the mold. As compared to sand casting, this process has better dimensional accuracy, a higher productivity rate, and lower labor requirements. It is often used to produce larger castings with many fine contours. The tooling needed for this type of casting is extensive an expensive. Hence shell moulding is preferred for large scale mass production only.
