Brass sand casting is a versatile and cost-effective method for producing Brass components. This process allows for the creation of complex shapes with good dimensional accuracy and surface finish. Brass, an alloy of copper and zinc, is prized for its corrosion resistance, aesthetic appeal, and machinability. We are one of the largest manufacturers suppliers and exporters of Brass castings from India and our Brass casting foundry in Jamnagar, India is well-equipped to supply Brass sand castings from 20 grams to 20 kilograms. We can also offer CNC machining of these Brass castings and can offer Chrome plating, Nickel plating and Tin plating where needed.
Brass Sand Casting method:
1. Green Sand Casting/ Black sand casting
Green sand casting is the most common method used for brass casting.
Process:
- Prepare the sand mixture (silica sand, clay, water, and additives)
- Create the mold by packing the sand around a pattern
- Remove the pattern, creating a cavity
- Add cores if necessary for internal features
- Pour molten brass into the mold
- Allow the casting to cool and solidify
- Break away the sand mold and remove the casting
- Perform finishing operations as needed
Advantages of Brass Sand Casting:
- Low cost
- Fast production
- Suitable for both small and large quantities
- Good for a wide range of brass alloys
2. Air Set Sand Casting
This method uses chemically bonded sand for improved accuracy.
Process:
- Mix sand with chemical binders
- Create the mold using the chemically bonded sand
- Allow the mold to cure (harden)
- Pour molten brass into the mold
- Allow to cool and solidify
- Break away the mold and remove the casting
Advantages:
- Better dimensional accuracy than green sand
- Improved surface finish
- Suitable for more complex shapes
